Melodies And Memories, with a History of the BLACKS of Breich Water District – by John BLACK. Published in 1909, by A. M’Laren & Son, Argyle Street, Glasgow (Digitized by the Internet Archive in 2012 with funding from National Library of Scotland).
Hamilton Family History – including the BLACK family in its ancestry. Much of the details about the BLACK family appear to be based on John Black’s “Melodies And Memories” (see above). But this website also cites Old Parish Registers, suggesting that the website’s author has done further research to confirm the details from “Melodies And Memories”.
Gregg Townsend’s Genealogy Page – showing a family tree of the BLACK family, from Whitburn, West Lothian, and West Calder, Mid Lothian. Much of the details about the BLACK family appear to be based on John Black’s “Melodies And Memories” (see above).
PrenticeNet – an article about the descendants of Thomas PRENTICE, of Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, on a website about the PRENTICE surname (and variations).
